Republic? Not my favorite.
Zhang Ling He as Murong Qing Yi
I find him overused which spins in my head as overrated. I don't find fault in his acting but in the lines and roles written for his characters.
Wang Chu Ran as Ren Su Su / Fang Mu Lan
I just find her watchable. Again, not because of her skills. I think she could be a stronger presence with stronger characters.
BUT... the beginning of this may be the answer to all my concerns regarding these two. (they did great, their characters are just unlikable to me)

Honestly, at this point - regardless of how entertaining this is - my emotional wellness mind thinks - he needs to let that zero go and move on with his life. Whatever revenge plan she has - let her have at it.

Trying to teach people rules and believing they are cultured pearls but the moment they open their moths they're beach pebbles.
😂 Jinru is a beach pebble.
Tasia and the aides had a good laugh on Jin Ru, first she mentioned the lack of luggage coming from ship merchants. Then of course they walked through with not just luggage - 😂BUT FREAKING FURNITURE (from Germany). The biggest laugh was because she called a painting unfinished. 😂 I bet it costs half a million US dollars. 😂

😂 What was she supposed to do with that butter knife?
Taking a little pause because this is a bit heavy for me. It is giving K-drama darkness - just a bit. This drama definitely needs some trigger warnings. Specifically in regards to Parent - adult child relationships. I am about ready to swing on Murong Qing Yi's mom. She is worse than the mean lady from Annie.

I don't being a victim once doesn't make hurting and manipulating people right nor acceptable. Usually in real life I could at least find it understandable. But for some reason I am not getting that for FL. Like - Chick, you wrong and wrong.

I stopped at 7, starting back at 5. It feels like this was written for a k-drama. It would be better as a k-drama - they pull off "this doesn't make sense - but you'll love it" well. This is practically a Chinese Makjang - the absurdity in this series is wild.

If I have not said it already - I am saying it now. This Chinese Republic drama reads like a Korean Makjang.
It makes no sense, but we are going to mold it in to a watchable story.

This is toxic very toxic. This show is very toxic the characters are very toxic. The female lead is out for Revenge yet she is causing harm to a lot of other people. The male lead he has abandonment issues and he's willing to accept all of her toxicity just to have her. I didn't know that I could dictate care period this is toxic very toxic the show is very toxic the characters are very toxic period
