Sword and Beloved

天地剑心

Jiejie’s Take

Sarcastic Warning: Contains Maximum Tropes. It's the classic drama bingo! Our hero, the most powerful but oh-so-unfree scion of a big family, finds his purpose (and possibly his heart) when our heroine somehow ends up as a spy in his house. Clearly, love is the best antidote to secret missions and family expectations.

Synopsis

Wangquan Fu Gui, born into the formidable Wangquan family as the son of Wangquan Hong Ye and Dongfang Huai Zhu, carries the weighty legacy of his powerful lineage. Despite his esteemed position as the most formidable member of his clan and his training as a Daoist soldier, Fu Gui endures a life devoid of personal freedom, bound by the expectations and duties imposed upon him.

His existence takes a significant turn with the arrival of Qing Tong. Initially, Qing Tong is a clandestine operative, dispatched by the enigmatic Poison Lady with the objective of infiltrating the Wangquan family to gather crucial intelligence. However, a profound connection develops between Fu Gui and Qing Tong, leading Fu Gui to help her break free from her subservient role.

As their relationship deepens, Qing Tong's liberation sparks a profound shift within Fu Gui. Her newfound freedom serves as a catalyst, reigniting his long-suppressed yearning for personal autonomy and rekindling his dormant vision of a world where peace prevails, untainted by conflict and constraint. Their intertwining destinies set them on a path toward challenging the established order and pursuing their shared ideals.
