Synopsis
A historical drama set in the late Qing Dynasty with stunning cinematography promised. Set during the tumultuous late Qing Dynasty, Gu Ping Yuan is a spirited young man from a humble merchant family. Though he dreamed of bringing honor to his name through an official scholarly career, his hopes were crushed when he was framed in the imperial examination hall, imprisoned, and exiled to a remote land.
Determined to uncover the truth and return home, he escapes by joining a private salt caravan bound for Shanxi. There, he accidentally embarks on a legendary path in commerce. With astonishing courage, Gu Ping Yuan leads the caravan through treacherous swamps, earning a reputation across the ancient plains. When faced with the schemes of Tiangui, the tyrannical overlord of Shanxi merchants, Gu Ping Yuan fearlessly counters every move, eventually attracting the attention of Li Qin, the son of a powerful Beijing tycoon.
While Li Qin views him as a bitter rival, Gu Ping Yuan consistently turns defeat into victory.
