A Journey to Glow
一念江南
Jiejie’s Take
So, five random strangers, each with their own baggage, just *happen* to stumble upon a legendary treasure in a tiny town, and their grand plan is to use it to... boost the local economy? Honey, that's not how economics works, and it's definitely not how treasure hunts usually end. I'm sensing a lot of 'convenient' plot devices and very little actual financial literacy here.
Synopsis
The geopolitical landscape is divided among four major states: Song, Su, Yue, and Tang. The Song Emperor, a formidable and unifying figure, has successfully consolidated power in the northern Jiangbei region, establishing a dominant presence. Despite their location in the southern Jiangnan area, the Tangyue states acknowledge Song's might, offering tribute and outwardly presenting themselves as vassals, while internally maintaining their own imperial traditions.
However, the Tang Lord's extravagant lifestyle has led to the imposition of severe taxes along the Tang border. This burden has gradually eroded the prosperity of Jiangnan, a region historically known for its wealth, plunging its populace into hardship and misery. Amidst this suffering, whispers circulate about a legendary hidden treasure, purportedly buried in Jiangnan by a former empress dowager.
This fabled cache is said to contain riches vast enough to rival an entire nation, alongside potent elixirs capable of curing all known diseases.
Into this tumultuous setting, five disparate individuals, each marginalized by their circumstances, find themselves drawn to Yongxing, a modest town in Jiangnan. This unlikely group includes a nomadic female thief, a government official stripped of his rank, a general on a quest for his former master, a female guardian of ancient tombs, and a wealthy scion perpetually facing financial woes. Their shared objective is to unearth the secret treasure, intending to leverage its immense value to revitalize the struggling local economy of Yongxing.
