UNFILTERED
Welcome! If you're here, you're ready to stop feeling burned out, stressed, or guilty about the amount (or type) of dramas you watch. We love dramas, but they should be a source of joy and catharsis, not emotional debt.
The Drama Diet isn't about watching less—it’s about watching better. It’s a supportive framework designed to help you transform from a passive consumer into an active, responsible viewer.
Our goal is simple: Maximize the emotional reward and minimize the emotional cost.
The Three Pillars of Mindful Viewing
The entire Drama Diet program is built on three essential pillars that must be used together for balance and well-being:
Pillar 1: Conscious Consumption (The Prep Phase)
Before you press play, you need to know what you’re signing up for. This pillar ensures you set realistic boundaries and intentions.
- DTI Pre-Screening: Always check the Drama Trauma Index (DTI) and Trope Tracker warnings. You wouldn't dive into the ocean without checking the tide, so don't dive into a drama without checking the emotional currents!
- Emotional Budget: Use the app to set a weekly "Emotional Budget" (e.g., “I will only watch 4 hours of High-Severity content this week.”). This forces you to be intentional about how much emotional energy you expend.
- Boundaries: Clearly define your "Must-Avoid" tags that will trigger a hard stop, regardless of any budget.
Pillar 2: The Binge Brake (The Limits Phase)
This is the most crucial pillar for protecting your time and sleep. This phase interrupts the classic dopamine feedback loop that keeps you watching "just one more."
- The Binge Timer: Set a rigid episode or time limit (e.g., 90 minutes). When the timer hits zero, it’s done.
- The Exit Cue: Stop watching on a low-stakes moment or when a non-critical scene begins. Stopping on a major cliffhanger makes the binge-break nearly impossible!
- Intermittent Fasting: Schedule Drama-Free Days or "Fasting" times where the app locks itself down. This promotes balance and ensures non-drama life activities are prioritized.
Pillar 3: Processing & Pacing (The Post-Watch Phase)
After the credits roll, you must process the feelings the drama brought up. If you skip this, the emotional tension just sits and builds up.
- Post-Watch Reflection: Immediately after a viewing session ends, the app will prompt you with a quick check-in: “How do you feel right now?” Acknowledging your emotional state is key to releasing it.
- Community Venting: Use the app’s quick "Vent Link" to immediately channel any frustration or rage (villain-related or otherwise) into the community. Don't let the emotional energy sit in your body!
- Pacing: If you’re emotionally exhausted, the app guides you to swap to a low-intensity, "comfort" drama or a non-screen activity.
