Su Mu Yu, then known by his birth identity, was the young master of No-Sword City until a family tragedy destroyed his life there. This loss led to him being taken in by Blood River and remade into the Nameless of the Su family, "Kui." The event underlies his entire character and his hidden origins.

As children, Su Mu Yu and Su Chang He broke Blood River's founding law by refusing to accept a fatal sacrifice, an act of rebellion that should have meant death for both. Patriarch Mu Ming Ce, seeing something extraordinary in their defiance and raw talent, broke the rule himself and spared them. They were integrated into the Su family and given their new names, later becoming legendary as the Umbrella Ghost and the Undertaker.

Su Mu Yu and Su Chang He are trained by their martial arts master, Su Yun Xiu, developing the skills that later define their roles within Blood River. This mentorship shapes both their combat prowess and their close bond as sworn brothers.

Eight years after the finale's events, Blood River rejoins the martial arts world, having spent time regrouping after the killing of the First Prince pushed the guild back into the shadows.
