I WATCHED THE DRAMA

Substantially reworked

What changes when you go from Flying up without Disturb back to Wu Rao Fei Sheng? Source-only material and source-side differences are brought forward; the underlying comparison is unchanged.

The drama preserves Konghou's fallen-princess background, Yunhua Men, its affectionate and relaxed cultivation culture, her journey with the sickly Huan Zong, his Zhongxi and Miaobike identities, the Fengshou Konghou artifact, their romance and Jiusu as a major late antagonist. It substantially rewrites how Konghou gains spiritual power, moves her meeting with Huan Zong forward, introduces Jiusu immediately, adds an evil-cultivator bloodline and Moonfall-clan history for Konghou, restructures the ascension conflict and replaces the source's surviving long-term dao-partner ending with death, a three-hundred-year separation and reincarnation.

Coverage: The 32-episode drama draws from material spanning almost the entire 156-chapter main story rather than adapting one contiguous early section. Source material that precedes Konghou's first meeting with Huan Zong is heavily compressed or reordered, while later Jiusu, Moon-Star Sect, romance and ascension material is extensively reconstructed. The source's decades-long cultivation intervals and two post-main-story extras are not reproduced in the same form. The screen ending is newly structured aro

Source synopsis

Konghou is a neglected young princess of a fallen mortal dynasty who is taken into the Lingyou cultivation world by Wangtong and becomes his final personal disciple at Yunhua Men. Instead of finding the cruel, competitive cultivation world described in the storybooks she has read, she discovers an unusually relaxed sect whose members openly care for her. Konghou is revealed to possess rare five spiritual roots and spends years learning cultivation before leaving the mountain at sixteen to gain experience. During her travels she meets the sickly cultivator Huan Zong, whose other identities connect him to the legendary cultivator Zhongxi and to the fiction writer Miaobike whose books Konghou follows. Their travels develop into a romantic and cultivation partnership while the wider story increasingly involves threats from evil cultivators, Huan Zong's damaged spiritual condition, questions of destiny and ascension, and the return of the evil sovereign Jiusu. Konghou and Huan Zong ultimately become dao partners, survive the final conflict and continue cultivating together.
