Source synopsis
Konghou is a neglected young princess of a fallen mortal dynasty who is taken into the Lingyou cultivation world by Wangtong and becomes his final personal disciple at Yunhua Men. Instead of finding the cruel, competitive cultivation world described in the storybooks she has read, she discovers an unusually relaxed sect whose members openly care for her. Konghou is revealed to possess rare five spiritual roots and spends years learning cultivation before leaving the mountain at sixteen to gain experience. During her travels she meets the sickly cultivator Huan Zong, whose other identities connect him to the legendary cultivator Zhongxi and to the fiction writer Miaobike whose books Konghou follows. Their travels develop into a romantic and cultivation partnership while the wider story increasingly involves threats from evil cultivators, Huan Zong's damaged spiritual condition, questions of destiny and ascension, and the return of the evil sovereign Jiusu. Konghou and Huan Zong ultimately become dao partners, survive the final conflict and continue cultivating together.
